Second baseman Pokey Reese went deep and had 3 RBI as the SSB SSB Tar Heels
rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over Santa Fe Trailer Bitches,
10 to 8.
SSB came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning as they scored
6 runs on 4 base hits. The key at-bat was by Frank Thomas who deflated the
crowd as he bombed a two-run dinger (his 17th of the season). The teams had
been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.
Randy Choate(3-1) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory.
Choate got help from Mike Gonzalez who was credited with his 5th save. Jason
Isringhausen(1-4) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 inning and
surrendered 4 hits and 2 walks.
'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Isringhausen said. 'The bottom line is I
didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'
